Privacy Policy — Tikkun Chatzot

Tikkun Chatzot does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information.
There is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics. Nothing you enter in the app is sent anywhere. There is no server behind this app.
What stays on your phone
Everything. Specifically:
- Your location. Used only to calculate chatzot halayla and the other halachic times for where you are. It is stored on the device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
- Your intentions and kavanot. The names and matters you write down, and the nights you mark as kept, are saved in a file inside the app's own storage. They are not backed up to any server. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Your settings. Alert preferences, text size, and reading position.
The one time the app uses the network
If you search for a place by name in Settings, that search text is sent to Apple's geocoding service to turn it into coordinates. It is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, contains nothing identifying you, and neither the query nor the result is stored anywhere but on your phone.
Every other part of the app works with no network connection at all.
Links out of the app
The "This Night" screen lists the yahrzeits falling on each Hebrew date. Tapping a name opens that person's page on nertzaddik.com in your browser. The app carries no biography of its own — it points at theirs, credited.
Nothing about you is sent with that link: it is a plain address containing only an identifier for the tzaddik. Once your browser opens it you are on their site, under their privacy policy, not ours. Tapping is entirely optional, and the rest of the app never needs a connection.
Permissions
- Location — to calculate the times for where you are. Declining is fully supported: the app uses Jerusalem and says so on screen. You can also set your place by hand.
- Notifications — to send one local notification per night at chatzot. These are scheduled on the device. There are no push notifications and no messages are sent from any server.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages, collects nothing, and contains no advertising and no third-party content.
Changes
Any change to this policy will be published on this page and reflected in the app's App Store listing.
